Anyone know the strength of Geordie Mild if I make it according to the kit instructions? i.e. with sugar.
Does using Dried Malt Extract as a direct substitute make any difference?
Geordie Mild ABV?

Yeah it'll make it drinkable if that's your bag.Minimasher wrote:Does using Dried Malt Extract as a direct substitute make any difference?

How much sugar did you use? Using 1kg of sugar will get you around 4% usually but this can vary on a number of factors.
I never use household sugar for brewing beers, try an enhancer for your next brew as some sort of middle ground. Munton's enhancer is 50/50 malt/brew sugar(dextrose)...Cooper's vary depending which number you decide to use.
Yes! Household sugar can leave a cidery twang to your homebrew. DME can add colour, mouth-feel, malt flavour & unfermentable sugars etc to your brew. This of course depends on how much you use and which DME you choose.Does using Dried Malt Extract as a direct substitute make any difference?
