New to brewing!

Post by clarkey2r » Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:29 pm

Hi all

I am new to all this brewing lark, I have been around in the Kit brews forum but only a month or so!

So, I have been given some frozen berries, I have about 500g's of logan berries and rasberries (maybe a little more) and I was wondering if I could add this together with some pure apple juice to make cider??

Any help/advice is much appreciated!!

Tea?

Also does all the fruit have to be strained or literally just pulped with a blender?

Yeah you heard right TEA. A big strong (3 bags) mug of tea. I pulp in a blender.
I use a mix of Aldi, Lidl and Tesco cheap AJ.
100% juice from concentrate with no other ingredents.
Put on one today with all Lidl AJ an apple and a handfull of raisans.
For a change I cut the apple into chunks washed the raisans and boiled both of these with some unrefined caster sugar (it was in the press) then added this to the AJ and tea.
Threw in half a sachet of champagne yeast and she started bubbling after an hour or so.

It's as easy as it gets

How long do you ferment it for?
do you rack it or just bottle it and leave it for a week??

Untill it stops, kinda 10-14 days I think. 14 is allways good, weekend to weekend.
Expect a pretty low FG 992-994 ish
Bottle with some sugar and leave to carb up if you like a fizzy cider
