What is the best and cheapest product to clean lime scale off boiler elements :?: mine has a build up of lime scale which turns black when dry. I have soda crystals but they don't seem to budge it, would citric acid be a good thing to use :?:

When I bought my boiler off ebay it looked like it had been wallpapered with woodchip on the inside. I bought lime scale remover from asda. I'm sure it was only a few quid and worked a treat.

Mine has never been heavily burnt, but citric acid and a touch of hot water, leave it to soak for 10 mins, then scrape with a wooden spoon has shifted all the muck from my element.

Citric acid dissolved in warm water & a scrub with a toothbrush works ok for me.

Thanks HH, I will give it a try, I presume you can clean the element without having to remove it?
