Can I ask a question mate.

With your fish tank heater have you just submerged it and left the corner (well side as its a circle!) of the lid open with the wire going in?

What size heater/wattage do you use?

cant imagine its a mentally powerful heater, i have two fishtanks, one 40L and one 160L, the 40L has a 50w heater in it and its about 7" long. cost me about £12 from my local fish stockist. That keeps my betta happy at 24'c in 40L easily.
Hmmm.....:D

Loving the picture, by the way!!

Chris; 50 Watt heaters, mate. German made. I've always found those the most reliable. I once used a cheap one and boiled an unfortunate creature alive in its tank

Dumped in. Fully submersed. Wire running out over the rim and the lid, obviously, not snapped down at that point.

And know what? Nothing Happens! I don't get fruit flies in it ~ though I have plenty of them in that room. But, being a Pest Controller, I simply do my job and give it a quick spray before putting the FV's in there.

But, no. No problems what so ever. Never have had. And why don't I put them in big buckets of water and then put the heaters in those? Space. All well and good if ye messing around with One FV. But, well ...... See for yeself

I've got a 6 quid ebay one in mine.

Keep it set at 20 but actual readings are about 21c.
