PS The manuafacturers website here states that the washing machine valves flow rate "exceed BS6675 - notably 0.16l/s for 15mm fittings"

Does that mean it wont slow the flow too much? No biggies for the mash tun reallly but for the HLT (which will have similar fixings) it would be more important.

Thanks,

Dean.

Those washing machine valves are not usually "full bore", so they will slow the flow a fair bit compared to the same length of 15mm pipe. If you want the top flow-rate, you should be looking for a ball valve described as "full bore", but it will probably cost a bit more.

In any event, make sure you don't get one with a check valve, as that will really slow things down!

It is a bit late but for posterity the thread form for 22mm compression fittings is UNS 1 1/8” x 14 TPI
