Next kit... Milestone ?

Post by Mo06 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 11:07 am

Ready to order my next kit, I'm looking at the Milestone kits, namely the Black Pearl and the IPA.

Given that no other ingredients are rquired, the prices are not excessive, and they get good reviews.

Has anyone brewed either kit & if so what did you think ?

I did the milestone doner n blitzed kit very good huge sachet of gervins real ale yeast rather than some unbranded god knows what packet. Well worth it IMO have you looked at the new festival kits they've been getting good reviews

I've done crusader and for a few xmas's back did the donner and blitzed, I thought the crusader was fantastic if you like a pale beer that is, very smooth not too hoppy and IMO tasted nothing like a homebrew in fact found some in the shed which is at least 18 months old and it tastes even better. The donner was equally good tho obviously different being more heavily bodied and slightly sweet with a xmas aroma(think xmas pud). These are probably the best kits ive done so take a chance and good luck.

I did a "homewrecker" kit last year and it was very good indeed. No need to add anything just followed the instructions and a cracking strong tasty brew was the result.

Black pearl stout is awesome. Brew as per instructions but to 20-21 litres and pop in a pressure barrell. This is what I did in July and this stout is amazing.

Have bottled before and was good. But in the keg -awesome :-)

IPA and Donner & Blitzed are both very good. I've even got a few of the Donner & Blitzed saved from last year for this coming Christmas.

The Black Pearl stout is the best stout kit on the market in my opinion and I've tried them all, several times.

As you say the price is good when you take into account that no other additives are needed.

Like most stouts you can start drinking this from the moment it has finished fermenting, but try to leave it conditioning as long as you can before drinking it. 12-16 weeks if possible and then you will have a truly superb brew.
