Balance Value on BrewMate

Balance Value on BrewMate

Can anyone explain the 'Balance Value' on BrewMate?

A lot of people think it refers to the bitterness to original gravity ratio but that is given on Brewmate as the BU:GU figure and the balance value is a bit more involved apparently.

I rate BV over BU:GU because it takes into account attenuation. Once you have a feel for these things, you can work out how the dryness (or fullness) of a brew will affect your perception of its bitterness, and BV is a rough way of expressing that as a numerical value...

I hadn't really looked into BV but agree that it seems to be a better reference to use.
