Can I add a question to this excelent thread
I have just bottled a lager and got the missus to bring home 20 litres of tesco value apple juice
and chucked it on top of the lager yeastcake ( well Oldblokes post did say any yeast )
followed the Tannin / yeast nutrient. and Pectolase additions
Will I get somethig drinkable or do you have any other stuff to pop in to make it better.

should I ferment it cold like the lager. or a bit warmer

Not tried a lager yeast. Dunno if it wants a lower temp for the ferment itself - try to Google it.
I always add a bit of SomeOtherJuice to turbocider, to broaden the flavour profile. Cranberry's nice - about 10% of the total volume.
It'll be drinkable even if you don't bother.
It'll be very dry though, I hate sweet cider but now add 2 or 3 tsp per gallon sweetener just to take the edge off.

Troutie,
Put in one or two bottles of Raspberry Syrup from the Tesco Polish food aisle.
See post on `Cheap Tasty Raspberryade` for more ideas.

Did this take off?

Reason I ask is that I am gonna keg a brew thats finishing (ale) at the weekend and fancy dumping 20 litres of apple juice straight in the FV, purely because I am incredibly lazy!!

Hello WT,
Making a plain TC comes out bland IMO and you end up putting cordial in your pint to get some flavour in there!
Read the post `Cheap Tasty Raspberryade`, loads of good Ideas on there for adding Tasty Juices to your Brew. :D
I know it`s 22 pages but it doesn`t take long to get through it and gain all that valuable TC knowledge!

Yes it fermented out to under 1.000 in about 8 days I did ferment it at 12 degrees to be on the safe side
I also added the liquor from steeping half a kilo of Crystal malt to add a bit of unfermentable sweetness as recommended on another thread .

I have just today popped it in a keg with 2 litres of applejuice to carb it up and tasted the sample
both me and the wife said it tasted good not too sharp or dry but not sweet either

will report back when it has conditioned round about Tour de France Yorkshire weekend

Hello,
I've made up a couple of batches of tc but haven't added any tannin. I didn't think to for some reason. They are less than two weeks old so I'm just wondering if I can add some in now while its still young. Thanks in advance.

It'll be hard to get it to mix properly now.
I wouldn't bother trying - the first TC I did was rub compared to what I do now and even with that one t'missus declared e need no longer buy commercial cider.
Take this one as a benchmark for next time.
Oh - less than 2weeks old - if still in the fermenter you might try adding a cup of strong tea (per gallon, preferably, but whatever you can easily manage)

Started brewing again in October. Really wanted to get into a proper cider but for one reason or another it didn't happen - started kit ales instead which I've soon started adapting with dry hops etc and am actually pretty happy with. Knew there were plenty of people doing turbo cider so thought I'd do a bit of digging and came across this thread (by way of another).

Just wanted to say, like everyone else, what a great thread - everything I need and/or wanted to ask.

I'd also say as a Heptonstall lad (which will hopefully mean something to OB!) if you can do it in Toddie, I can do it in Thirsk! And finally, still can't make my mind up OB whether your stated county location is a true statement of fact or a typo! The former from memory I'd guess!!

Thanks again - will be following your advice and guidelines this weekend.

PS If anyone is within reach of a Boyes store by the way, they have a sale starting Friday - or at least my now local has in Northallerton. Not sure if everything is reduced but was so gob smacked at the variety of brewing stuff they carry when I was dragged in to their place a couple of weeks ago, worth having a look. Seen them mentioned on the forum but had no idea how much stuff they carry - impressed!

It's a deliberate typo, based on the local climate, as you surmised.
I'm not originally from the place that calls itself God's Own County, I'm actually from God's Own County : Somerset.
Apart from it being a little craggier up here they're quite similar, the narrowness of the country lanes in particular.
