Plastic wort chiller

Post by turbo 2011 » Thu May 08, 2014 7:12 pm

This is probs a stupid question but I'm more than sure I've asked a few of them over the past few weeks . I can get my hands on plastic instrument pipe from work all the fittings etc could you use plastic pipe as a wort chiller or would it spoil the brew and add some unwanted flavours . This is a high grade plastic piping what you all think . :?

One likely problem is that the plastic won't conduct heat well enough to get efficient cooling.

1. Is it food safe plastic?
2. I don't think the heat transfer will be as good/quick as copper.

I wouldn't use if personally.
