A gift to myself

Post by Will12283 » Sat May 24, 2014 12:17 am

Came home from work to a nice big box that had been left next door

Opened it up and started to think that's not what I ordered

This is what I actually found in there. A nice 50L SS boiler with tap sight glass and hop stopper. I supplied the element myself.

A big thank you has to go to Ian from Powell Brewing. He was quick answering any questions I had and can't fault the customer service.

Just have to sort a few bit and first AG brew will be done soon (hopefully end if June).

After the service I have had, Powell Brewing will be my first port of call when I upgrade anything.

I bought the 100L gas setup as mentioned above, and I would recommend it to anyone.

My only very minor issues were :

1 - the de - burring on some of the copper pipes/ other bits weren't done

2 - the insulation on the mash tun is not as good as my original (igloo ice cube) cool - box mash tun (but you learn the limitations of equipment)

3 - the plastic washers (between the pot body & the taps/sight glass etc) are not great & melt/split - but I contacted Ian & he sent me a pack of 20 washers for free.

again a great bit of kit !
