Mis-styling

Post by Matt12398 » Tue Jun 10, 2014 7:18 pm

A few weeks back I brewed a stone pale ale clone with my brother which was based on the recipe they shared in BYO magazine. I don't think it would have been that close to be honest but after the liquid yeast failed to take off I pitched a spare sachet of Gervin and the result is the best example of an English bitter we've ever made. An absolute million miles away from American pale ale.

Has anyone else ever ended up with something they weren't expecting?

In 1989 I married a beautiful, vivacious woman who had just turned 23. 13 years later I woke up one day and realised I didn't recognise anything about her. Anybody else experience this?

The story has a happy ending, because it led to me taking up brewing, and now I am married to the art of making beers that I love, completely unhindered.

Yes mate, I tried brewing something like Founders All Day IPA and ended up a near exact match to Adnams Ghostship! As long as it turns out a good kind of different instead of a bad kind of different then happy days

Very interesting. Most people make beer with malt and hops. Still, each to their own!

What's up with you guys? :D

Yes, malt and hops were used. My brother was not a final ingredient in the beer.
