Sounds like the 25% off they do. Were there banners or yellow stickers anywhere?brewjohn wrote:just got back from my Wilkinson store in Preston Lancs and they had Wherry at £14.25 and some Coopers at £10 !! Don't know if it applies nationwide
I'll swing by my local Wilkos on way home and report back if the offer is on in Derbyshire too

Re: wilko's
Just looked on line and it looks like some is reduced. The coopers english bitter and aussie stout appears to be £10.50 a tin

Re: wilko's
It was £14.25 at my local Wilko's too today.
other bits like wine yeast, C02 bulbs etc else seemed to be 25% off too
maybe it's just starting...

No cheap stuff in the Livingston branch, a sneaky new sale hasn't spread yet..
Re: wilko's
The £12.50 Wilko golden ale...is that the two can kit? Absolute bargain if so and I will be checking this out at the weekend!
I can feel a haul coming on!!!

I need to do a double batch to build some stocks up before I go over to extract. What do you recommend from the Wilko range. I've done coopers stout, hoppy copper and the apple cider.
Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

For predictable reliable and delicious results you can't go wrong with a Woodfordes Wherry.
I brewed up the light golden lager with 1kg dextrose and 454g honey—that's lovely.
My Wilko stout is still conditioning so can't pass comment I'm afraid.

I've done 3 of their golden ale kits and whilst it's drinkable as is I actually dry hopped the last two batches with great success.
I popped to wilko yesterday to get another and some coopers stout. Bargains both.

I'm about relaunch myself with great trepidation as a born-again home brewer after 20 years in the wilderness!
What would any of you sages of brewing recommend to buy in the sale to stock up and try for my first brew for 20 years! Out of Wilkos own and other brand beers and lagers and stouts in sale? I like a good real ale and I like Newcastle brown and McEwan's Scottish export and McEwan's scotch ale and black sheep and double maxim in bought beers and the occasional good lager. I prefer lowish strength beers ideally if I,m having a good session to keep hangovers within manageable parameters!

You can't really go wrong with the Wherry. It is a two can kit, and has everything that you need. It also makes quite a good brew, it was my first, and I would certainly do it again. It has some similarities to your Newkie B, but not an awful lot. It is a dark beer though.Wekslap wrote:I'm about relaunch myself with great trepidation as a born-again home brewer after 20 years in the wilderness!
