saw this and took a punt..
it arrived today, needs 4 x aaa batteries 2x for the display and 2 x for the rf base unit
a quick test reveals its OKish....
dropped in water out of the tap next to a thermopen which settled on a reading of 8.5C within a few seconds the landman took over 35 Mississippies to hit a stable 9C so far so good..
next i made a cup of tea and dropped the 2 probes in while it brews, the thermopen read 96C and started to drop by .1 of a degree every other second or so by the time the landman was showing 95C the thermopen had dropped to 93C and as the temperature drops in the mug the landman seems to lag 1.5-2C behind the thermopens readings.. currently 79C on the landman and 77.4 on the thermopen....
So my Very scientific testing

And out of the box the BBQ meat cooking functions are a bit of a pita and tricky to aoid so it will beep at you to tell you your beef is cooked or has gone over temp.. ,,
IMHO if tempted and do lots of BBqing it may be worth a punt, for a brewday thermometer its features are not applicable and its not that hot.. long reading lag, not that accurate at higher temps, best feature is the button to light up the lcd dispaly
