S30 / Widget World query

Post by Gastronaut » Sun Feb 22, 2015 12:34 am

Hi,

I currently have a couple of corny kegs and have been using S30 cylinders which work but are imprecise. My LHBS does S30 refills. I've been looking at the widget world system as it looks good value but am not sure if / how this is useable with S30 cylinders. Alternatively, I also have a local soda stream stockist (Robert Dyas), but again I'm not sure how the two are compatible.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Andy

consider getting a regulator and 6.5kg bottle of gas, will make life so much easier and a basic welders reg will set you back circa £30 and depending on where you are a gas bottle can be picked up without a deposit here n there and a single £20ish refil should last you a couple of years.
ist update for months n months..

Thanks - I had thought of that but unsure what kind of reg I need. Could you post a link to something suitable?

This type of basic regulator will work
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Co2-Pub-Gas-W ... 27f81889f6

one thing to look for is the grade on the output dial, ensure its got a psi measure as some have a flow or just atmospheres which are a pita to convert. and one with 2 psi increments is preferable to one with a coarser grade like 4-5psi increments on the dial.

unlike sold for dispensing duty regulators these have no integral PRV (pressure relief valve) Which if used with sankey kegs could be problomatic when venting a keg is demanded, however with corny kegs with a prv fitted to each lid its not an issue.

you will probably need some hardware to attach beerline, 3/8" od line has a 1/4" inside diameter so a 1/4" hosetail fitting and a jubilee clip to retain the gas pipe is all you need though many prefer to use a JG fitting.
