Ss brew tech 10gallon

Post by Vysie » Sun Apr 12, 2015 1:37 pm

Just ordered myself a shiny ss brew tech 10 gallon pot, I will be starting with it as a biab pot but will move to 3 vessels as my new man cave takes shape, as for heat induction plates? Gas? Which would be best for this new pot

I've got the 20gallon - they work very well with induction, there's a guy on EBay who sells the 3000W buffalo hobs cheap who I'd definitely recommend - I had some issues with mine, and some courier issues, and his customer service has been second to none to sort it all out: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/benmax3?_trks ... 2749.l2754

Don't bother with the false bottom though, it's useless, and a nightmare to clean - when I get a mo I'm going to rip out the pickup tube and false bottom and replace it with a S/S nipple and bazooka.

Nice one Vysie Welcome to the dark side.. they are Very Nice bits of kit those SS brewtech pots.

Im just thinking aloud here and have no experience with induction hobs.. but.. ;)

how about a smaller 2kw induction plate for £30 + 3year guarantee??? http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/single- ... il-1534378

as its 10 US gallons so 37l not 45, 2kw should be ample power as long as your not out on an exposed windy patio
and even then a wee insulation wrap should sort you out,.. Fwiw i boil 30l with a 2kw radiant element sufficiently and if i understand correctly induction is a bit more efficient with the correct pans..

only downside to induction plates im aware of is its not a simple matter of plugging into an on/off or pid temp controller, but imho your better off hitting a good strike temp and relying on insulation to maintain a mash temp than trying to apply active heating during a mash which could cook and denature the grain at the bottom closest to the heat source..

perhaps invest the savings in a winch to pull out and suspend the biab bag over the pot for the drain and sparge/rinse and you may find no need for further investment in 2nd or 3rd vessels..

looking forward to seeing the pics and reading about your brewdays..
ist update for months n months..
