Yep nothing I can get too easily here in warrington so it's either brewuk, malt miller or the homebrewcompanyDave S wrote:Yeah, closed well over a year ago. I drove over there one day only to have my hopes dashed. There is a serious dearth of good home brew suppliers around the Northwest. I've got two nearby which are fine for bits and pieces - FV, kegs, jugs etc, but don't even think of buying ingredients - way over priced and badly stored.orlando wrote:Would appear that maybe there wasn't any other way to "skin a cat".LeeH wrote:I noticed homebrewsupermarket has closed too when I went in to buy some Blueball Brewery Bottles.

The place in St. Helens is decent, although they only carry a limited selection, trafford homebrew is ok too, but again, limited selection. Problem with the local bricks and mortar stores is they can only stock "popular" stuff because they won't have the space to stock, or be able to shift the quantity required to sell everything that the large online stores do - I still like to buy what I can from them though.

I suffer from the same, we have a shop in Glasgow which is ok for some simple things but I tend to buy online from the English online based stores as the product range is by far superior.

Which one in St Helens? There is one in North Road and another AFAIK just outside the town. The former used to be quite good about 20 years ago, but I emailed them a couple of years ago for a price on something - hops I think and the quote returned was eye-wateringly high. I think the business was passed from father to daughter some years ago. Also the web site is non-interactive, just a front page. Can't even look anything up.Grumpydev wrote:The place in St. Helens is decent, although they only carry a limited selection, trafford homebrew is ok too, but again, limited selection. The Wine Loft, it has been handed down (or across) yeah, but the old man is pushing 90 (he was in there when I was in the other week) and the current lady running it is in her 60s or 70s I'd say, so it's not exactly run by young whipper snappersDave S wrote:Which one in St Helens?
