Minibrew parts

Post by Midlife » Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:24 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get a white nylon 3/4 inch nipple, one of these in the UK.... http://minibrew.com/product/nipple-34-i ... aded-pipe/ for my minibrew fermenter. Fits on the ball valve at the bottom. The UK suppliers don't list/hold parts, and searching the webs a blank. Was thinking of finding a pipe fitting shop.

Its been leaking a bit and when I took it apart is was a bit manky and smelt a bit so risking infection! could do with replacing it, new ptfe tape and perhaps some more care when I fit it this time! think I have been fairly lucky not to get and infection.

Cheers.

Doug.

http://www.coleparmer.co.uk/Search/Nipp ... sh8?Page=3

They may have what you want, but is it bsp thread or npt

And you mY have to buy more than 1

Edit: try searching barrel nipple 3/8 abs or polypropylene

Thanks.... I got a couple in plastic.

I think there is a high potential for infections with this type of fitting/design, they were quite dirty. The instructions don't say if it should stripped down and cleaned after every brew, then the nipples replaced with ptfe tape. Looking at the situation now, I think I will do a strip down and clean for every brew. Bit of a pain really and it was never really clear what's required when I got it.

I have also took the plunge and got stainless nipples and ball valves, probably overkill, and I will need to be careful on assembly with the FV threads. But at least I know it will all be clean. Even the original brass ball valves that came with it are blemished and stained, you know that brass used look.

I will see how things go, but I am quite tempted now to move to the SS brewtech stainless FV. It looks a nice piece of kit.

Cheers

Doug.
