Did a brew today, it was a double batch of 45 litres.
Put the mash on and SWMBO dragged me out for what should of been less than an hour, of course got side tracked and delayed.
By the time I got back and got the sparge water up to temperature it was nearly 2 1/2 hours before I began to sparge.
The mash had held the temperature well and was still over 65C.
Are there any known issues if you mash "too long"? Any nasties getting extracted?
Over 2 hours in the mash tun - issues?
Re: Over 2 hours in the mash tun - issues?
I doubt it, some people mash over night so an extra hour should be fine. I think the temperature you maintained would have inhibited any nasties as well.

The same thing has happened to me several times. Kids parties that never seemed to end, emergency shopping trips and surprise visitors. Never had a bad effect on the final brew.

No probs, I used to mash overnight 12+ hours with no issues.

Yes it will be terrible - send all the beer to me for disposal

Re: Over 2 hours in the mash tun - issues?
I regularly used to mash for three hours. It'll be fine.
