CO2 Refill Maybe Wrong
CO2 Refill Maybe Wrong
I have been having trouble finding a gas supplier in Liverpool at a reasonable cost, £10 for gas but then £20 for bottle deposit but I have my own so wanted it refilling
I called a fire extinguisher service centre close to me and they said yes we can fill it for £10 and I said great
I took the keg back and it has ice all over it, well a frost and is freezing and not like before.
The regulator was working ok last week and now I can see it is saying it is pushing 30 out on the right dial but the left dial does not show anything
If I open the valve of the tank it looks and sounds like its pushing pressure but doesnt seem to be getting past the reg
Have they but the correct gas in I do not know and I am a bit befuddled with it
Help please as I was looking forward to a pint and the football tonight

Re: CO2 Refill Maybe Wrong
Could it be the reg is frozen? I know our liquid nitrogen tank gets a bit sulky after it's been filled because of ice formation. You leave it at ambient temps for a while and it seems to warm up and work better. I'm not au fait with CO2 cylinders though...

Where did you get it refilled? I've had my bottle almost two years now so am expecting it to go empty sooner rather than later. I've not asked around anywhere yet but it'd be good to know if there's a place local.

Sounds like you had liquid gas in the dispensing tube, which got to the Reg? did you transport the cylinder on it's side by any chance?
I was always told transport & store upright, and give a quick blast of gas out before ever connecting up a regulator / welding set / whatever.
Removes any muck from the outlet/valve seat and stops you blowing it into your gear.

You live and learn as they say

Soup here you go

I told him I would let the Merseyside people know about it
I got fed up of people asking for deposits when I had a bottle.
Don't turn up after 4 pm as the machine may be shut off he said

Correct. Got it a couple of years ago from Runcorn hydroponics, £20 all in, no deposit

There are quite a few hydroponic places in Liverpool where you could get one and I actually have a number somewhere for a guy who will deliver gas to your door at £10 with £20 deposit so £30 for first hit

I'm sure there will be several places that will be happy to help once the time comes

What do hydroponics shops do with CO2? Force flush the home grown down the toilet when the fuzz come knocking?
Re: CO2 Refill Maybe Wrong
It's what plants "breathe", CO2 is necessary for photosynthesis, by increasing the ratio you can increase yields and reduce growth times.
Mate recons his chilli plants really took off once he stated CO2 dosing, that and a fan to simulate wind. He said stressing the plants by the bending/movement encouraged them to grow much stronger.
