OK, will look at that. For the mad fermentations I guess. Weird that people do different things. Lid shut, lid loose, no lid, airlock, blow off tubes. They all work the vast majority of the time I suppose.

One of the original questions raised in this post was on carboys (American style). Does anyone out there use them and what are the benefits as compared to standard plastic FVs with decent airlock? Cheers

I never use an airlock now, just screw the lid on lightly in the fermenting fridge.

No flies as yet in there but I did see a spider run out when I opened it last night!
