Adding more malt to fermenter

Post by ADDLED » Sat Aug 02, 2008 3:34 pm

Hey all. Ive got a 5gall brew going using 3kg Brupaks pale LME and one of their Classic London Bitter packs and Wyeast. Also put a few extra fuggles in at the end of the boil.
OG was 1042 and its bubbling away nicely since Thursday night, now around 1030. Im considering maybe popping a little more boiled extract, perhaps half a 500g bag of spraymalt to get the ABV up to around 5%.

Can anyone offer any advice on this please? Im worries that i might cock it all up by tinkering, as its all going soooo nicely at the moment. Smells like heaven!

Cheers!
Owen

Leave it alone I say. If you want to make a stronger beer next time add the extra at beginning. Nothing worse than tipping beer down the sink because you messed with it too much.

Tks mighty, appreciate your answer. I made a lighter brew but then got to thinking that by the time it matures it will be Autumn and so maybe a stronger beer would be more seasonal. However I will take your advice and leave well alone.

I have sampled it though. Only as a byproduct of checking the gravity... honest, to get a benchmark on flavour... honest, and its wonderful; gorgeous, malty, hoppy, breadyness.

Can you die from drinking a vat full of half fermented beer?
