I'm in the process of creating a frame for a pasta machine to crush grains.
Any one ever thought of doing this. Test on the rollers appear to crush the grains quite well.

let me know how you get on. problem I reckon will be getting the wheels to drag the grans through without them "rolling" on top of them. I guess you could just open out the rollers to get the right gap?
its worth a try

What I thought was that the weight of the grains would push them through, preliminary tests show it works without this weight.

Well I managed to build the grain mill, but........it takes an age to crush the grain. It does crush it well but since the rollers are too smooth it just doesnt get a grip on the grains.
Ahhhh well back to the drawing board I suppose.

Are you hand cranking? If it's taking ages, hook the mill up to an electric drill.
Johnny Clueless was there

Tried that too, it comes down to the rollers being too smooth

what are the rollers made from - any chance of a bit of stippling with a dremmel or similar to rough the roller surface up a bit?

If you got particularly artistic you could start a new line in designer pasta.

The rollers are made of nicely-machined stainless. I was wondering about crushing grapes through mine, but it's a bit small and there's the smooth roller problem.
