Chaps,
I have started my first brew today - Woodfordes Wherry.

I have it on a fermenting bin, have added yeast vit before yeast as recommended.

Can someone tell me - do i need to seel the fermenting bin - ie their is a hole at the top which is open ?

You should fit an air lock with a plastic bung and fill the airlock with a little cooled boiled water with half a campden tablet.

Within 24 hours your brew with be bubbling away with no risk of oxygen getting in.

If you haven't got an airlock available you should at the very least shove some tape over the hole to seal it up then unscrew the lid until loose'ish to allow it to breathe. Don't leave that hole uncovered, fruit flies love beer!

Thanks both. I covered last night and fitted an airlock this morning.
