Hi Guys.
Just a quick question. I have never used finings but want to dabble with my next brew, which is nearly ready to keg. I will try what i think is the most simple method i can find which is to near boil 12g of sheet gelatin in about a quarter of a pint of water, cool it, put in into the cornie and rack my beer onto it. IS this right for a first fining attempt?
Any tips, as usual, are greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

You're not supposed to boil gelatin finings. I believe you call them auxiliary finings. 1 Tsp of finings in a pint of water. Heat gently until the gelatin is dissolved. Add to beer.

Hmmm. I near boiled it to ensure it was all sterilised. Will this be detremental?

For what its worth I boiled my water then let it cool a little before adding the gelatin. Make sure its all dissolved then racked the beer ontop of the mix.
Not sure if its worked yet!

What i did was after fermenting i put the wort in a secondry container and after 2 weeks it still wasn't clear thats why i started looking on this forum for clearing beer solutions and found gelatin, think its the warm weather why it aint cleared any way i used warm water out the kettle about a pint mixed the gelatin from tesco 69p for 5 packs and mixed it to me beer and after 2 days i checked it and as it was clear i corny'd it.and now i'm drinking it

my next lot i'v got in the fv i'm going to try after fermenting 8-10days piching the gelating leave for 2 days then straight in a corny to age a couple of weeks then drink drink drink
