hi guys bin after a nice redish mild ale or bitter with good hops and around 4% session`l beer for the summer

give up with light coloured ales :oops: as this chill hase doesn't go down good [-X when the lads come round

as for the hops/malts iv got most i think so fire away :roll:

iv got the GW book,, any of them recipe`s stand out , to many to choose

as for the haze iv bin using irish moss last 15 of the boil,
after fermention`s its loverly and bright very clear , but once keg`d (corny) falls hazy.... #-o
what do you guys do for a clear cold beer

Irish moss won't resolve a chill haze, it's what happens naturally to a British style of beer when it gets cold. Such beers are normally served no colder than about 56F or 13C to warm slightly while being drunk. You could chill them and use a specific type of fining to leave behind that part which many think to be their virtue. You could make different style beers that are intended for drinking cold but you are talking about long cold processes in comparison to those for a British ale.
What would I do for a clear cold beer? Refuse it most probably unless I lived a lot closer to, or within, the tropics. When I fall foul of entering a pub that chills their cask ales I have to spend time with my hands wrapped around the glass to get it up to temperature.
Try adding some dark crystal, a bit of black malt and a teaspoon of black treacle to your normal recipe to hide the haze a bit.
Without patience, life becomes difficult and the sooner it's finished, the better.

I agree theres not much to be done about the haze. After a decent period of conditioning, this should reduce and you can always add finings to clear it a bit more.

If you have GWs book and you are after a Mild recipe I recently made the Holdens Black Country Mild clone - v simple recipe and pleasantly quaffable. Its a lovely dark brown colour so no haze issues for sure.
