2nd Brew On The Go

Thanks for all the help and support you guys gave me throughout my first brew, it's bottle conditioning as we speak, looks a bit flat, but I used the carbonation drops I got with the kit. My 2nd brew I'm going to bulk prime. I have gone for the Wilkos Mexican Cerveza made with 1kg sugar and 500g Light DME, S.G. Reading was 1.040. I know some of you aren't massive fans of the Cerveza, so don't judge me, it was a good excuse to use my staff discount and also get free brewing sugar with it.

How long has it been in the bottle? One thing with this hobby is you need an abundance of one thing, patience!!!

Tell me about it, it's killing me not being able to touch them. 42 lovely bottles all waiting for me to drink. They've been stored at room temp for nearly a week, at the weekend going to pop them in the garage for as long as possible, maybe have to have a cheeky bottle or two to pop in the fridge, just for a sampling.

I'd advise the ones you put in the fridge, you don't put in the door. Every time you open the fridge and close it you'll disturb and sediment in the bottom, then those lovely bottles will have a not so lovely tang to them :-#

Thanks for that advice Spoony, as that's the first place I'd have put them.

Certainly have Lee, even my mates who I thought would mock me, are all dying to try some. Just happy to get a few kit brews under my belt first before experimenting with hops etc.

Had a peek in the brewing cupboard today, nice bit of foam on top, already looks lighter than when it initially went in. So far, so good, also moving my Canadian Blonde into the garage today as its had a week in bottles at room temperature, then celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks by cracking one open and giving it a sample at last. Us homebrewers sure have to be a patient breed.

You'll crack one before the weeks out, think most do for a sneaky tester. I know I always do

When moving to the garage, one may 'fall' into the fridge

I hold my hands up, I did not think I would get into it as much as I have done, I am constantly seeking information on it like some sort of beer sponge, can't thank you guys enough for all the support and encouragement, I've received.

The only way I manage to fully condition my beer is by brewing more than I can drink, works a treat.

I'll bear that one in mind. Tried a bottle of my Canadian Blonde last night that had been conditioning for a week at room temperature. It was very drinkable, but had very little carbonation, in fact hardly any at all. The bottle opened with a "Psssst" but once I poured it, there was no head and very few bubbles. I was a bit disappointed, however I will pop the remaining 41 bottles in the garage for a couple of weeks. Although it was pretty flat, it didn't taste flat, it was certainly drinkable, very clear and crisp. I blame the carbonation drops for not giving enough fizz. I'll be batch priming my next brew amyways.

Certainly works for me too, I've got about 230 bottles of various brews at various stages of conditioning in the garage and another 23L currently in my FV ;)

AG#41 - Vienna Lager - 5.6%
AG#42 - Heritage Double Ale - 10.5%

On Tap:
