power connectors

Post by Highlander » Mon Mar 04, 2013 4:20 pm

I'm looking at my rims build just now and need some connectors to go with it. I know there are couple of prefered connectors, but i can;t seem to find prices for them.
has anyone used these before

they seem to be about £14 a pair. Bit pricy but they look the business.

Just wired up a pair of powercon ones I got from farnell, and very happy with how sturdy they feel.
I'm only using the 16A ones but would definitely use them again.

This forum should be sponsored by Powercon.

I messaged Electrovision yesterday and they came back to me today. True1:

"Hello,

Please see below as requested -

NE602 £3.46

NE601 £4.04

Thanks
Heather"

Didn't say if that was plus Vat and it will be plus delivery.

I want them but that's another £50 gone so it 'looks cooler'. I'd best start saving.

EDIT: If you do buy them make sure you get the right ones... Male/Female/In/Out/etc

The true1 it is then.... the hot connect and the double in out, in one sold it for me.
For the first build I'm going to be powering each PiD separately so that will tidy it right up.

Thanks for the offer. No i'm good with 2 just now. (i think)

A word of warning. Think before you buy one of these. I had bought it thinking that I could have power in and element power out. Trouble is they are commoned together, so short of cutting the connections between the 2 you can't seperate the intput from the output and you only get one set of spade terminals on the pair.

CPC farell seems to be the cheapest place for true1 items, also place a small order and when they send you the paperwork etc you should get a code foe 10% off your next order.

Got my connectors today. It's not often I'm impressed by consumer electronics.
But that's a really well designed connector. A huge number of design features in one place.
Would almost consider rewiring my house with them!!!

Thought you might be impressed with them, just remember the metal lug thingy if you want to unscrew the cable gland

That flumuxed me to start with, had put them together dry and couldn't get them apart!! was cursing it.... had to stick a screwdriver in the end to pop each lug. once it was apart I noticed the release thingy #-o
