Q-Max Cutter Guide

Post by angelHomeBrew » Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:51 pm

Hi

Received quite a few questions about Q-Max cutters so thought it would be worth taking the time to put a professional how to guide video together

http://www.angelhomebrew.co.uk/en/conte ... max-cutter

Hope this is of some use

Regards
Paul

Thought I should explain his happy face.

Had just got him off playing angry birds on his tablet for a minute to do that ! Not happy

Thanks sbond

Just messing about with son really but might try and provide something a bit more useful and informative

Also was thinking about one on drilling stainless steel, AG brewing, maybe a BIAB one

Think I may have another go !

Cheers Paul, very helpful.. However imho what causes the most problems is the initial pilot hole.

Me, Im a fan of a big ammer and small cross head screwdriver knocking the initial hole thru, and then enlarging with bigger hss drill bits... the inital skin break is the hardest bit... :)

if considering my big ammer aproach - ensire u have the hole rear supported with something to avoid dings.. :)

any tips from anyone on how to revive a well used blunt qmax cutter, my 20mm cutter is beginning to ?blunt? and isnt punching a tidy hole anymore and needs a bit of post cutting file attention...
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

Thanks again sbond

Jim, I hadn't seen that Q-Max guide, very good too. Probably should have done a search first.

Still think there some scope for video format. For example, have been asked how hard it is turn Q-Max through the pot and sometimes easier to see this type of thing rather than describe in words and pictures

Fil, I am tempted to do a drilling one even though there are guides available, as it used to take 15-20 mins to get to a point where you start thinking its not possible to drill a hole.

A pilot hole now only takes a few seconds, small amount on technique, but a lot on having good quality sharp drill bit

Have asked manufacturer about Q-Max sharpening, will let you know

Just had a thought, the sarcasm in "professional how to guide video" did come across. right?

cheers AHB, that avi works fine. I'll have to have a tinker with my settings, firefox is claiming in 'options' to know what to do with mp4's?

I just wish my kids were even half as helpful as angel!

Fil ... Answer from manufacturer on q-max sharpening is ....

"yes the punches can be sharpened. It would only be as good as the person sharpening it."

No sure how helpful that really is !
