Hello All,
I have acquired an undercounter faulty Candy fridge. My idea is to just use this to store my beer in a ready to drink way.
The fridge is faulty with a dodgy thermostat I believe. Upon switching the fridge on with the setting at 4 or 5 then compressor switches on and the fridge gets cold and the ice box starts to ice the moisture, then after a few hours the compressor shuts off and the fridge just then justs warms up to around 11deg where upon the compressor kicks in again and repeats the cycle.
I have ordered an STC-1000 to control the cooling etc, however I need to disconnect the current thermostat. Taking out the light unit which is next to the thermostat control I see 2 white wires going into a blue encapsulated part which I presume is the thermister/sensor/thermostat.
To bypass the thermostat on my last fridge I just joined the 2 thermostat wires together, however I am not sure on this fridge.
Has anyone done this before or will know if connecting these 2 wires together will will?

Re: Fridge Conversion - Thermostat
You need to short the stat, not the sensor to the stat which I'm thinking are the 2 white wires. The 230VAC into the stat will most probably be Brown and the return feed Black.

Re: Fridge Conversion - Thermostat
Thanks LeeH, I dug into the fridge surround behine the light and found the actual thermostat. I took it out and joined the brown/black and then switched it on and the compressor came on. Left it running for 5 hours with a digital thermonter and it was down to -1deg c, so the fridge works great. Just have to wait for the STC-1000 to arrive hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

The fridge is working great now the STC-1000 is linked up to it and controlling it. Temp set at 0deg and I have mighty nice cold beer now. Thanks
