Hi guys. Quick question, is a barrel cap with an S30 pin valve (like this one http://www.art-of-brewing.co.uk/acatalo ... tml#SID=15) designed to vent excess pressure?
I'm asking because I added gas to my barrel probably before it needed it and most of the gas seemed to escape from around the inner seal. I'm just trying to figure out if I have a faulty cap or if it's working as intended.
Thanks in advance.

Question about barrel cap with pin valve
Re: Question about barrel cap with pin valve
Hi, those caps are designed to vent pressure under the rubber band (there is a small hole under it)

That'll probably be it then! Thanks for the reply.

Re: Question about barrel cap with pin valve
From what I remember, they should vent at about 10-20psi as most kegs that they are used for an't supposed to be used at high pressure.daddies-beer-factory wrote:Hi, those caps are designed to vent pressure under the rubber band (there is a small hole under it)

One thing I will remind you about, that's if you don't know or forgot. They sell tools to tighten up or undo the cap. Even with a bit of lube on the oring they can and will leak under pressure, so make sure the cap is on tight. I am talking about the pressure barrel cap.
Edit, I'm talking about the 4inch caps ie king keg. Using a spanner. I have never had a problem with this 2inch cap, Except when I over tighten by hand it and the oring tore as the barrel was a bit rough on the lip.
