Corny Keg drama?

Post by Killick Greenie » Tue Feb 10, 2015 6:41 pm

Hi All, long time no post but a change in work has now opend up the brew shed again and the brew is in.

After dusting off the kit I cleaned up the cornies but the little plastic ends that fit over the end of the lever on the lid have given up the ghost. I've looked online and can only find complete lids which is a bit expensive when I only need teh plastic bits. Has anyone any idea if:

1. I dont need them and the seal will be just as good without them
2. I do need them and I can find them at.....
3. Any other ideas?

Cheers

u shouldnt need em as the seal should be maintained by the pressure and big oring..

u can always cut one and measure the gap they fill and wedge a coil, ?1p or 5p under ..

candirect.com will sell em and they are cheap till the pnp costs are added but as these are light small items a phonecall (international to germany daytime rates??) or email? to ask em to pop em in the usual office post? I have read rumour that the phone call works, but that was a few years back before the uk version of the site was up and it was a google translate pages you shopped from..

btw last time i used the site when providing a delivery address the dropdown for country was in Germen still?? worth looking up in advance if using the site..

they also sell the soft red/orange silicone Lid orings, tho not as cheap as ebay..
Iirc they differentiate between pinlock and ball lock with lables CC and NC ?? CC ball lock (guess CocaCola??) NC pinlock (guess Not Cocacola??) thats my best guess at least, if im shooting wide i hope someone will correct me..

if buying a lot of kit the pnp costs become less of an issue, and if spending a lot even with the pnp the total price can be very competitive..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

As Fil said use a coin. I used a 1p coin on each side when my lid seemed to go loose. It worked for me
