Custom BIAB Bag

Post by TempTest » Sat Apr 25, 2015 11:52 pm

Hello!

Can anybody recommend where you buy your BIAB bags from please? I am currently toying with moving to AG albeit small batch sizes (possibly as little as 5L). I think by brewing smaller quantities I'll brew more frequently, with more variety and as a result fine tune my method more quickly. I'm sure by the time that comes I'll want to move to a 3V system or even a larger BIAB setup. It's only an idea at the moment but I'm seriously considering it. Currently my kit brew stuff takes a lot of space and cleaning and the results are not great. Probably 3 or so more kits but I'm not sure I can wait to use those before getting my hands dirty  My BIAB exploration would be in parallel with my (less frequent) 5 Gallon kit brews I guess.

Anyway, to the point - Because I'm looking at such small volumes (5L) I'm guessing I'll only be brewing in a 7 - 8 litre vessel. The off-the-shelf bags (designed for 5 gallon brews) are going to be too large, I guess. I'm not sure if this has any disadvantages or not but I'm hoping having such a small bag made might not be too expensive any how...

So, where did you buy from?

Thanks!

For a 1 gal brew I would just buy 1 metre of voile (net curtain), cut out as large a circle as you can and use that. Some people do this for 5 gal or larger so it is more than up to the job.

Yep I'm gonna for the net curtain approach in a 70 litre pan. Seen a you tube video where the guy made 7.2% beer using voile sheet reckon that's at least 6-7kg of grain and it took it well. A custom bag will set you back at least 20 quid. Voile no more than a fiver
