Hi,
Does anyone have a calculation for accurately hitting the same ABV while brewing on a BM 50L. I have perfected a couple of recipes on the BM 50L however struggle to get a consistant ABV when I repeat them.
Any feedback would be welcome

Braumeister calculations and efficiency
Re: Braumeister calculations and efficiency
I use the 50L Bm but so far have only used the 25L malt pipe. Unfortunately i don't really have a answer for you question but below is a summary of the brews i have done so far. I'm my own worse enemy when it comes to consistent brews as i change too much from one to another.
Code: Select all
Mash Sparge Grain Eff Fermenter Vol Notes
30l 4L 4820g 72% 23l
30l 12L 4208g 77% 30l
27.5l 10L 5000g 71% 25l wheat
30l 8L 5000g 78% 24L wheat
30L 10L 6230g 69% 26L overloaded malt pipe
30L 10.5L 5000g 71% 27.5L
30L 10.5 5480g 75% 27L
30L 8L 5500g 70% 25L wheat
30L 8L 5318g 79% 24L
30L 8L 5410g 82% 27.5L
30L 10L 4573g 81% 30L
30L 7.5L 5000g 87% 27L
30L 7.5L 5000g 78% 26L
30L 8L 5500g 79% 27L wheat
Re: Braumeister calculations and efficiency
I'm getting about 72% efficiency with no sparge. I think I've gotten my boil off set up properly now in Beersmith so the figures are getting more accurate.
It will depend on the malt, your water and a host of other things though.

Re: Braumeister calculations and efficiency
If you are talking about OG, abv depends a a lot on what yeast you are using, with 20 BM fill with 25 litres of water and sparge with 6 litres. With the 50 fill with 55 litres and sparge with 12 litres. To sparge lift the tube onto the stirrup, leave the top filters in place and very slowly pour your Sparge water at 78 degrees over the filter. This way using an all grain mash you will achieve 80-85 percent efficiency. With mashes containing flakes and other non malted cereals it will be lower. Top up to desired volume after the boil.Pagibson wrote:Hi,
