Fish tank heater

Post by leon103 » Fri May 08, 2015 7:28 pm

I am looking at getting a fish tanker heater can anyone recommend one?

Pretty new to this, would a fish tank heater be better than a heat pad?

I use a fishtank heater for mine, i keep fish too, Without a doubt i would recommend eheim their used in labs an all sorts nice and robust for a fairly fragile thing

I use mine in a builders bucket with water in and sit the fermentation vessel in that, so heater is not in the beer and lid can be kept closed

Only thing make sure to check the water level as heater should be submerged and its surprising how much can evaporate out

I use a 150 watt one cause thats what i had spare, probably only need 50watt and this would be a little better if it ever did get stuck on

Never used the heat pad probably a little more convenient, fermentation fridge is supposed to be the way to go

i have 4 fishtank heaters , 3 25w ones for my standard fv's and a 50w one for the 40 liter one . All are directly in my fv's through a grommet. Done at least 15 brews each , and they are the £7 ones off ebay. Might actually need to replace them soon though , just in case , i should probably change me fv's too
