DIY Counter Pressure Bottle Filler

Post by DeadFall » Mon May 25, 2015 9:12 pm

I saw an interesting idea for a counter pressure filler on here a few days ago that IIRC was built from JG parts and beer line. Does anyone have a guide for building one? Or any other designs? I'm considering a pegas once my funds have recovered from a move into cornies, so a cheap and cheerful solution would be nice right now.

I have made one, using a JG Y splitter with 3/8 beer line. The beer line fits in a #2 stopper from hop and grape. It's quite fiddly though. The thread with picture was here. Unlike wonkydonkey, I used the rubber stopper and released the pressure using my thumb.

Depending on how many bottles you want to fill these may be useful

They are around £8 ea from Aliexpress.

Yeh, I'm bit late, seeing this. I think the parts cost me around £10. I have filled a few bottles since making it (5, 10 and 15 bottles). It works and yeh it's a bit fiddly but as I've only used it a few times i have to iron out a few wrinkles. But I think my prob is the temp of the beer, and bottles and also the right pressure. They need to be cooler than what I have tried so far.
The mod that I' will be trying soon as it arrives from China, is a fish air pump valve.
This is so I can easly control the release of the co2. The only reason I used a cork was the shop I was in only had them and I could drill it. When I told him what I wanted it for. The shop man said "health & safety" "be careful of you fingers" I've done many things before and I still have them all LOL...

So if anyone else knows what psi is best in the keg and temp of the bottles is, I'd love to hear what it is.
As I have a IRS @7.5% to bottle soon and I'm not looking forward to that creamy head/froth you get from a stout.

Anyhow the stout can wait it till I get better at filling.
