Thanks to DC's recent Topic - Bench Capper which one to buy (and thanks to all for info following my post on there) - it has raised a rather simple question that makes me feel a bit of divvie.
Never even occurred to me there were different size caps (sales blurb on some cappers saying they cope with both 26mm and 29mm caps) so maybe the reason why my capper (Wilko job) is now knackered is from forcing 26mm caps onto '29mm' bottle heads. Not that it changes anything of course - still need a new capper but maybe I need to be more careful choosing the caps?
Looked on a few sites I use and only 1 specifies what size their caps are - 26mm. Do I need to bother determining which cap is for which bottle or should a decent capper and a 'standard' 26mm cap cope every time?
What size crown caps?

Re: What size crown caps?
26mm caps are pretty standard on beer bottles, they will be the ones your familiar with. There is no chance of squeezing a 26mm cap on a 29mm bottle. 29mm caps go on Champagne style bottles, like the Leffe ones. If at all possible get a capper that does both as eventually I am sure you will want to cap the 750ml bottles, great for stronger/Belgian/stout etc.

Came to the conclusion 26mm must be more or less standard - just my crappy capper that got me wondering. As you say, sensible to get a new capper that can cope with both sizes - bit of future proofing!
