Hi has anyone used and had success maintaining the temperature of their FV using insulation foil? Having problems during the night with the temperature dropping as low as 15 Degrees (59 Fahrenheit) I have a heat belt on during the day then to help pick it back up, but surely this is no good for the yeasty boys working their magic. Was wondering however if insulation foil would help maintain the temperature during the night? Any other tips would be more than helpful thanks.

A cheap duvet or sleeping bag works very well for insulation. Foil will help but you'll need something to further insulate it in my opinion.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

Re: Insulation Foil?!
I hope this stuff does work as I've just spent the weekend insulating my shed with it! Let me know how you get on with using on your FV and I'll use the leftover scraps to make some thermal type jackets.
Re: Insulation Foil?!
My new(-ish) stainless 100l HLT is wrapped in two layers of 5mm thick camping mat, although at the moment the lid is uninsulated. The camping mat seems to do a pretty good job. Once I've worked out a suitable cleaning regime for the new boiler (also a 100l stainless pot) I'll be doing the same with that.

Re: Insulation Foil?!
Adamzworld - I bought the insulation wrap yesterday and this morning it kept steady temp all night. So far I'd recommend will get back to you by the end of the week to give a more accurate response. I also bought a timer socket for my heat belt but as of day two with the insulation wrap I'm going to leave the timer for tonight. Will let all know the progress at the end of the week. Decided I will invest in a STC-1000 once I move. Happy brewing guys and thanks for ideas and help so far

Sorry Monkeymullins, only just seen your reply. Pleased to hear that the foil is working well for you. I can report back that my newly insulted shed is feeling warm and dry and I haven't even put a heater in there yet!
