Don't leave plastic items soaking in iodophor for to long, ie, overnight, as it will stain tubing and certain plastics

I've seen 10 seconds rec the most. DaaB uses the minimal optimum whilst Deads uses the max.
I use 10 secs or longer as suits

right, quick question...
1/4 teaspoon per litre right?
this is a very small ammount to try and measure on a teaspoon which might be a different size to everyone elses!
Given it's water based, how does measuring out 2.5grams sound (i have some 0.1g scales)

Apparently it is not supposed to be used on copper but I use it to run through my CFC and have not noticed any problems.

Bought some Betadine from Tescos chemist yesterday
made it up like this and there is no colour to the solution - it seems very weak.... have I got the right stuff??

The stuff you want is 10% Iodine-Povidone. It's called something like 'Betadine standardised aqueous for microbicidal preparation of operative sites'. The stuff you've got is a mouthwash...it's probably a lot weaker (I hope - I wouldn't want to gargle 10% iodophor!)

I think DaaB posted a picture of the bottle here somewhere, I printed it out and took it to the chemist - spoke to the phamacist and she knew what it was but had to search on the 'puter to find it - make sure they order the aqueous version rather than the alcohol version though...

ah this is 1% Iodine-povidone so will use 20ml/L. Costs the same though
Will know better next time
