The pear tree at the bottom of the garden has yielded 3 fermenting buckets full of pears, the obvious choice is to turn this into a alcoholic beverage pear cider or perry.
My local homebrew shop will hire me a scratter and press £25 for two days no idea if this is the going rate so I was wondering how much juice this amount of pears this will give before hiring said equipment.
Also the pears are quite firm should they be left for a whilst to soften, no they need washing or any other type of preparation ?
All advice snd help welcome including recipe ideas
Many thanksbin advance Paul

Re: Pearplexed
On the face of it sounds cheap at £12.50 per day. I am thinking of hiring an electric saw and get quoted £40+VAT per day ..... not for wine making of course ....
Re: Pearplexed
Sounds cheap as Klaus says.
Save you loads of time as well.

Yes I agree doesn't sound too bad my worry is that I would only get a gallon or so of juice then it doesn't become cost effective

You should get at least three or four gallons I would have thought.

My LHBS wanted £60/day for a press. No too bad what you've been offered in my view. Howver a car jack, 2 by 4 and a bit of ingeneuity could also help...
Re: Pearplexed
Have you considered just chpping them by hand and using the water extraction method?
