extra dark ale, stout or porter?
Just finished a coopers dark ale kit made up with a can of coopers dark malt extract, it is currently been conditioning for 12hrs so I decided to have a taste!!! It tastes very nice but it is black with a white head, I was wondering wot is the difference between an extra dark ale, stout and porter.

Re: extra dark ale, stout or porter?
Stouts originated as stronger versions of porter (stout porter). I don't think there's a real style called dark ale although I'd guess it's named that because it has more black/crystal/chocolate malt in it than a bitter generally would have but has less than a porter.
Best wishes
