Efficiency?

Post by sam c » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:33 am

ive not yet done any extract brews but have been researching quite a bit on here and trying to create recipes using beer engine and the help of others on here.

one thing i dont understand is about efficiency. what does this actually refer to and how is it calculated?

also does anyone have a methode of coverting all grain recipes into extract. just the grain into extraxt really, i guess the speciality grains and hops remain the same?

cheers

just completed 1st AG, so starting to think about such things myself.

If the recipe stated OG of 1058, and I got 1058, does that mean I got 100% efficiency then?
can't be... :-k

No it means your efficiency is the same as the one assumed in the recipe (75%?). That is assuming you also got exactly the expected volume of wort.
Best wishes
