It was an excellent day last year, good food, entertainment and of course, Beer.
Lets hope for the same weather.....
My wife's office is in Charlbury, I've had good reports and threatened to go for the last couple of years but never seem to make it

Hope its as nice as the Original, something to add to the to-brew list :)
Yep that's in my thoughts and I have some Wyeast 1098 similar to WLP007 that would probably do a similar job.

I was wondering if anyone else has brewed this, and if they are willing to share, add their comments on similarity to Jaipur. I saw the post you linked to and the comments by Scoob, but I think the brew he posted a picture of was quite light. Jaipur is a regular favourite of mine (the brewery is around 10 miles from my place) and I think it has a much more orange tinge to it - which is one indicator to me that it contains the Munich malt suggested - possibly in a slightly greater proportion?
I am also surprised that this recipe and Scarer's recipe for Bombay IPA don't include any fermentation hops. I would have thought it would have had some, but there are a lot of late flame-out hop additions.

Well.......I've pinched Scooby's recipe (thanks Scooby) and I'm about to keg mine. It's got a few more late hops and a little Chinook dry hop, so probably won't be the same as the real thing, but I am not too fussed about that. I will let you know how it turns out. I would think that the darker colour in the original is due to a higher ABV (more grain). Scooby intentionally made his a lower ABV and i would suspect that he added Munich to increase the body to compensate :?: My brew is about 6% without any Munich. I would be surprised if Thornbridge used Munich though.

I believe that when Thornbridge originally concocted Jaipur (at 6.5% ABV), the idea was to recreate an IPA like that of the 19th Century. Given that I find it unlikely that Burton-upon-Trent would have been using Munich malt in the 19th Century, the logical place to go would be Amber malt, imparting a nice, biscuity flavour to the beer and the golden-orange colour. So, may be Thornbridge use Amber malt for authenticity, just like the hops they use in the brew....

... oh no, wait, they only use New World hops.

So god knows what they use for malt.

After posting my last message, i pinched Thornbridge's bottle label which says that they use Warrior hops (amongst others) and Vienna malt   I dunno.............I'll just see how it turns out :D

The hops used were authentic as of when I did the researched but as we all know breweries change schedules for many reasons like availability, cost etc. Regarding the malt Vienna is also authentic, I used Munich as it's similar, I like it and I had some.

As the title says this brew was inspired by Jaipur and not a clone so the colour is of little significances to me. Brewing on a home brew scale will always produce a different colour even with the same grist.

It would be good to hear how your brew turns out Jubby

pm me your address scooby and I'll send a bottle. I would be interested in your opinion on how much it differs without the Munich/Vienna.

I was chatting with someone from Thornbridge at a beer festival last year and they mentioned Ahtanum in Jaipur.
