Changing the tap on a Buffalo boiler
Anyone know whether it's possible to swap the tap on a Buffalo boiler for a stainless steel ball valve, please?
Thanks.

Should be the same as any other boiler. Unscrew the tap, punch the right size hole with a q-cutter and add your ball valve by which ever means you decide.

Did this a few months ago. Take the old tap out punch a new 22mm, (I think) hole using a QMax cutter and Bob's yer uncle. You just need to watch that you've got the QMax positioned correctly over the existing hole.guypettigrew wrote:Anyone know whether it's possible to swap the tap on a Buffalo boiler for a stainless steel ball valve, please?

I'm not sure if it was here on Jim's or not but there is a guide by a user RPT showing how to fit a ball valve which doesn't require any drilling. I used it on my Buffalo as it listed all the parts to order.
I found it here - http://forum.craft brewing.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=409

Yes, with a 3/8" ball valve, that works. I already had a 1/2" valve so needed to enlarge the hole.AnthonyUK wrote:I'm not sure if it was here on Jim's or not but there is a guide by a user RPT showing how to fit a ball valve which doesn't require any drilling. Yes, mine is 21mm. I would think 20mm is a tight fit.LeeH wrote:21mm Dave.Dave S wrote:Did this a few months ago. You can 'make it have it' with 20mm but it is too small.

have to disagree 20mm is puuurrrfikt , the inside diameter of 1/2" bsp thread is less then 20mm.. self centeringLeeH wrote:You can 'make it have it' with 20mm but it is too small.

21mm and u have a too big a hole imho tho in practice both will work, 20mm may be a tad easier to seal up tho?
find yourself close to ox4 and your welcome to borrow ours Guy. but it is only 20mm
