I remember an adventure game (all text!) came out for the ZX Spectrum based on The Hobbit. It came with a copy of the book, which you had to read to be able to get anywhere with the game.

I got to about the second chapter before giving up in disgust - and I'm quite an avid reader. However, I did enjoy the Lord of the Rings films, though I saw them at the cinema, which I think made a big difference.

Indeed- LOTR on small-screen just isn't the same.

I enjoyed The Hobbit, but I suspect it would bore me to death now.

Have you played the Hitchiker text game?

No, I haven't seen that game. I'm a fan of the TV series - got them all on DVD - though I missed the radio series when it was on for some reason (I was probably down the pub :=P )
