Re: Durham Beer Festival - 28th-30th August 2008
It was ever thus, back when i used to help at the Newcastle beer festival, everybody liked working the quiet sessions but as soon as it became busy they would be off talking to their mates, leaving the mugs to struggle with the hordes. And any talk of dismantling you wouldnt see them for dust. Cant really blame them ,shifting scaffolding and barrels when youre hungover is never fun. i'd come help but i dont get back from Dorset until the saturday night.Garth wrote:Helpers desperately required for setting upon on Tues/Wed 26th and 27th, and taking down on Sun 31st.

Nice going, Garth. I'll be there tomorrow about lunch time onwards.Garth wrote:Just a quick heads up, the first day of the festival went very well today, quite busy but at close all beers were still on. If anyones coming down tomorrow remember to say hello.
I'll pm you my mobile in case you can't find me in the crowds!
Well, very successful festival, not one drop of beer was left, even all the bottles went, we ran out by about 6pm which isn't bad at all. Nearly 7000 pints of beer, cider and perry.
Friday night was hectic, busier than we've ever seen, probably due to all the publicity. Quite a few folk said it'd been mentioned on GMTV.
Great to finally meet Jim, what a top bloke, it's always good to see a moving face rather than an avatar...! Glad you enjoyed it Jim.
I'm due down at the festival in an hour or so to start the cleanup and help dismantle it all, I'll get me broom. here's a few photos.
