agreed, they are a good addition to a boiler and HLT, you can precisely work out efficiency, losses and how much liquor you are adding. Before I used to guess.....Vossy1 wrote:I've got sight tubes on boiler and HLT and find them invaluable
Sight tubes on HLT
Sight Tubes
Just want to say a BIG THANKS to Garth for helping me out with my sight kit so far.And don't worry i will come to you for advice if I get stuck!! Can't wait for them to arrive, just hope my DIY skills are up to scratch when fitting them. Don't want any nasty slips!
I need to start looking round for valves now. Also looking for temperature gauges to attach to my pots. So if anybody's got any recommendations!

Sight Tubes
Another BIG THANKS to Garth for the sight tube kits, mine arrived this week and are due to be fitted this weekend. Saved a lot of hassle trying to source the parts in France.
Yep, just push the tube in.
To get it back out you need to push the collet down at the base of the JG fitting (where the tube enters it there is a little raised ring above the JG main body) and then pull on the tube, it should cone straight out.
You don't want to remove the tube on a regular basis as the gripping teeth in the JG fitting will score the tube and eventually it will leak
Ps if you cut the tube to length make sure the cut edges are smooth before inserting it into the JG fitting. If you don't you run the risk of damaging the o-ring iside the fitting which again may lead to leaks.
