Prices

What's the average price for all the Extract ingrediants compaired to the kits? and does the quality of extract brewing improve with the price. I only have Coopers kits and they're ok but nothing too special so want to go onto extract so I can make lots of different styles and clones etc but as I was looking on different websites it seems like the price will increase by around 3 times that of the kits.
My LHB shop only has Coopers kits and no beer making ingrediants so I have to look on the net to buy.

An extract brew will cost about the same as a premium kit - £25ish a time. Obviously this varies depending on how much extract/hops you use and whether you use liquid or dry yeast. Its more fun than kit brewing though. Get creative!

Hi.
Much cheaper to buy 15Kg tub of extract (enough for 5 brews) for apprx £55 plus hops.(Try Grimsby Homebrew for cheap hops)Am I allowed to say that?

I've been using bulk for a while now. £52.50 for 15kg at H&G which sounds comparable to what Philbo said. You used to be able to get John Bull in bulk which was cheaper again. Certainly the way to go if you have 3 or 4 extract recipes lined up.
