NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
I have two Wherry Kits on the go at present. The first brew is fine - gassed up to the nines and creates a foamy head when poured. BUT, I have just cracked open the second barrel to try and found the beer, thou clear and tasting good, as flat as the proverbial pancake. I am guessing the problem is a leak in the barrel/seal. Is there any way I can salvage the brew and add a bit of sparkle???
Re: NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
Try to find the leak. Take off the lid, re-vaseline, screw down tight and re-gas with CO2 is the best option.
Re: NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
Thanks - but bit of a newby - is the co2 going to carbonate the beer or just pressurise the top of the barrel.
Re: NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
If you store the barrel somewhere cold after injecting CO2, some of it will be absorbed by the beer. It won't be fizzy, if that is what you are after, but it should have some life.

NO - don't want fizzy beer (who does!!!) a bit of life will be fine. Hope the HBS in open tomorrow. Many thanks

Re: NO PRESSURE IN BARREL
Place the keg somewhere nice and cold then inject enough co2 so that the pressure relief valve(the little rubber band around the gas valve) starts to lift.Repeat this 3-4 times over a week and it should have some life to it when poured.

Again - thanks for all the replies - I will give this a try. Thank goodness you are all out there to assist us novices. Must remember to post how it turns out for anyone with the same problem in future.
