Successful Norfolk Nog

Post by gratefuldave54 » Thu Jan 01, 2009 7:53 pm

Hello and Happy New Year everyone. I just barrelled a Woodfordes Norfolk Nog today with OG 1040 and FG 1006. This equates to 5% which I'm pleased with. I was concerned after reading all the posts about Munton's stuck ferments but this has exceeded all my expectations. Have Munton's finally got their act together or did I just get lucky ?

Lets hope, fingers crossed, that they have got their act together! They seem to have have stopped any relations they had with us via this forum, but if its opened their eyes and made them act then hoorah!

Of course you could have just been lucky

ps, enjoy the nog

My Nog got down to 1008 and I started suppin' it 2 days ago after 17 days in the barrel. Its excellent :D although it takes some pouring as its extremely lively.

Strange thing is I kegged an Admirals Reserve the week previous and that got down to 1010 when the target FG is supposed be 1020 :?

Anyway, I've a few F&Fs round to celebrate my 50th :wall on Saturday I've managed to save some bottled Headcracker so we should have fair old time of it. :flip:

I think perhaps Muntons have acted, there doesnt seem to be anywhere near the amount of stuck fermentations as before [-o< .....or homebrewers have stopped buying their kits :?

i've found that. i don't know what it is but the last two wherries i have done just smell more malty and hoppy when i am pouring them into the ferming bin. i have been using yeast nutrient but they just feel different from when i started a couple of years ago.
