An "Other brew" challenge
An "Other brew" challenge
Ok, guess this thread will either fly or die. What is the most unusual, mental, outright crazy brew you have ever made??? Have seen some real crackers (mean that in a good way) brews and have picked a few up for my own collection. Who can come up with the idea (brewed or theoretical) that is furthest Out there?
Re: An "Other brew" challenge

Re: An "Other brew" challenge
Maybe not that out there but i did a v. nice stout with vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Thats some peoples idea of their nightmare beer but i and anyone that tried it really enjoyed it.
Re: An "Other brew" challenge
well recon the liberty cap mead would be made with 3 500gram jars of honey, (strong tasting honey- lydells forest honey maybe) and a cup of strong tea made with the caps . this was a plan for last autumn, gonna have to be next autumn now as i didnt get my arse in gear... to busy scrumpin instead

The anti-thesis of everything on this site. I felt vomitous as he described some of that.

I went an looked at that site an some of the other stuff he did was vile. But the commentry was ace, i was sat at work sniggering trying my hardest not to belly laugh. but hey im easily amused.
Re: An "Other brew" challenge
Cheers Guys, I like making up a fairly strong batch of squash (blackcurrant and apple is nice) using sugar free cordial then add enough sugar to get it up to about 6% and ferment with either cider or champagne yeast. Harsh at first but really quite refresshing if you leave it for a while. Ok I know it's tramp juice but it does the trick and I am only just getting to grips with AG brewing.
Re: An "Other brew" challenge
I've got some parsnip cyser on the go at the minute.
It started out as apple and parsnip wine. A shit load of mashed apples and parsnips, with water and yeast. First racking it looked liked scotch broth. I managed to get about 2 litres of liquid off the vile trub, which I then topped up with apple juice. This became, eventually, the apple and parsnip wine. The vile trub looked too good to waste. I topped it up with 3 jars of honey and more apple juice. After a month I racked it. In a couple of weeks I'll bottle it. The slight taste I had when racking was a cross between mead that had been sitting in the sun for a week and cheap sweet white wine. Come summer 2010 it'll taste lovely.
